Northampton County is accepting applications for a full-time Director of Emergency Medical Services (EMS Chief).

The essential function of the position within the organization is to provide and supervise the provision of emergency medical services to the public. The position is responsible for supervising and training staff, providing emergency medical services, and performing administrative duties in the department. The position formulates long-range goals for the organization; and develops policy and position papers. Provides basic and advanced emergency medical care, based on established medical protocols, too sick and injured persons. Develops, implements, and coordinates continuing education/training. Supervises, directs, trains, schedules, and evaluates assigned staff in the provision of emergency medical services. Formulates Department budget requests for submittal to County Administrator and Finance Director. Applies for and administers grant programs. Interacts with other agencies, departments, and healthcare providers.

Excellent communication skills are essential with two years of experience in customer service. Requires education or training equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in emergency medical services, public administration, or a closely related field. Requires five (5) years of experience in the EMS field, including supervisory and managerial. The salary range is $67,065-$108, 433.
