  • UPDATES:
-Regional Burn Training is BACK and EVHC and TEMS are offering 6 classes total. If you are an Emergency Management or a registered nurse, please register for the EVHC team member course, we are offering 2 Nursing Contact Hours. If you are in EMS, please register for the TEMS classes. That is the ONLY WAY you will be receiving the EMS CE credits.

  • HERT Training
    This training is scheduled for October 28-30 from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. It will be hosted at a Riverside Regional: 500 J Clyde Morris Blvd, Newport News, VA 23601. This will be held in Annex Conference Room D. Please park in the parking garages. 
     
    The Hospital Emergency Response Training for Mass Casualty Incidents (HERT) course addresses health care response at the operations level for the facility and its personnel. This three-day course prepares health care responders to utilize the Hospital Incident Command System — integrating into the community emergency response network while operating an Emergency Treatment Area as hospital first responders during a mass casualty incident involving patient contamination.
     
    Course Prerequisites: 
    IS100.c - Introduction to Incident Command System (ICS100)    https://training.fema.gov/is/courseoverview.aspx?code=is-100.c&lang=en 
    IS200.c - Basic Incident Command System for Initial Response (ICS200)    https://training.fema.gov/is/courseoverview.aspx?code=IS-200.c&lang=en 
    IS700.b - An Introdcution to the National Incident Management System (ICS700)    https://training.fema.gov/is/courseoverview.aspx?code=is-700.b&lang=en 
    It is recommended to have successfully completed operations-level CBRNE (chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosive) or hazardous-materials training as specified in 29 CFR 1910.120(q)(6)(ii), at a minimum.
  • Virtual Burn Training
    This will be held for all RN's and EVHC Team Members on June, July, & August. TEMS will be hosting this class for all EMS on September, October, November. 
    DISCLAIMER:
    If you are in EMS, you can ONLY take the TEMS EMS class if you want CE credits.  That class does cap at 30 participants. 
     
    Both EVHC Team Members and TEMS EMS classes are the EXACT same. You will not be recieving additional information in one or the other. 
     
    Once you have registered, you will recieve a TEAMS invite to your desired training day through your email. 
     
    EVHC Members (EMs, RN) Dates & Times *
    - June 24: 4:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m.
    - July 24: 7:30 a.m. -9:30 a.m.
    -August 21: 4:00 p.m.- 6:00 p.m.
     *If you are EMS, you can still register for these classes, there is no cap for these classes. But you will NOT be receiving a CE credit. 
     
    TEMS EMS Dates & Times* 
    - September 16: 4:00 p.m.- 6:00 p.m.
    - October 16: 7:30 a.m. -9:30 a.m.
    - November 13: 4:00 p.m.- 6:00 p.m.
    *This is specifically for EMS because they will have a cap of 30 per class. This is the only way to receive CE credits. 
    Sentara Norfolk General Hospital Trauma/Burn Services and Macon and Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences Old Dominion University Eastern Virginia Medical School and Medical Group-Emergency Trauma and Burn Surgeons are collaborating with the Eastern Virginia Healthcare Coalition to offer virtual Burn Training to the region. This training will cover initial burn care, dressings, topical, fluid resuscitation, primary survey and transfer. This is in complement and review of Burn boxes available at each hospital in the Eastern Region. 
  • Virtual PAPR Training
    This will be held September 10th at 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. and September 17th from 1:00 p.m.- 2:00 p.m. by ILC Dover. 
     
    This virtual session will consist of how to put on a PAPR, what the parts of the PAPR are, how to use a PAPR and the types of PAPRs there are. 
     
              • Family Support Center Workshop 
  • This workshop is scheduled for September 24th  from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. At CHKD Oakbrooke Health Center.  500 Discovery Dr, Chesapeake, VA 23320

  • This workshop will be discussing the Family Reunification, Family Assistance Centers and the hospital's part with the Family Support Center. It will be taught by the Virginia Crisis Awareness Response Team (VCART).  They will be delving into family assistance centers and will talk to hospitals about the family support centers and what the differences are. 

  • Virtual HVA Workshop
    This will be held October 8th at 10:00 a.m.-11:00 p.m. on TEAMS. Once you register, we will send out the link. 
    The MVP Coordinator and the Training and Exercise Coordinator will be providing you with a basic understanding of what the HVA is and how it applies to each of your facilities. We are here for you to ask questions and review an example HVA with you. 
     
  • Virtual VHASS Training
    These will be held virtually every Wednesday in October (8, 15, 22, 29) at 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
    This will be for anyone and everyone, it is created for MRSE in November.
