MGT-319 TEEX CLASS- MEDICAL COUNTERMEASURES: POINT OF DISPENSING (POD), PLANNING, AND RESPONSE
The course is on April 8-9 at Portsmouth Social Services Bld 1701 High Street, Portsmouth Virginia 23704. It will be from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., please arrive on time. There will be CE credits given to nurses, physicians and EMS. Class size is limited to 30 students.
This training course is to enhance jurisdiction preparedness and emergency response efforts by providing the knowledge of how to exercise and revise a plan that utilizes an all-hazards, whole community approach toward a medical countermeasures event. Assists with coordination of planning, training and responding to a Medical Countermeasure (MCM) response for a public health incident.

The Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association is hosting the 2025 Virginia Healthcare Emergency Preparedness Summit on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 from 8:30 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. at The Westin-Richmond 6631 W Broad St, Richmond, VA 23230.
Our speakers, sponsors and support organizations will provide the Virginia healthcare community the opportunity to discuss and strengthen the Commonwealth’s preparedness for threats to the healthcare delivery system including severe weather, active aggressor incidents, crisis standards of care, and special pathogens response.
CHEC 1 & 2 Class Information

This course provides students with an introduction to emergency management principles, key components and regulations of emergency preparedness and response programs. Upon completion of the Certified Healthcare Emergency Coordinator (CHEC) Basic course, healthcare emergency coordinators (HECs) will be able to demonstrate the ability to make critical decisions needed to reduce the potential threats to life and property using an “all hazards” approach to disaster management.
The course will provide healthcare emergency coordinators with an in-depth guide detailing plan basics, plan development, annexes and appendices to plans, implementation of plans, evaluating plans for quality, and exercising a plan.
PEMS MOULAGE CLASS
There will be a Basic Moulage Course offered at PEMS on April 30th and May 1st from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00p.m. The address is: 6876 Main Street Gloucester, Virginia 23061. There is not a charge for the course and students only need to register for one day.
This course is an interactive hands-on in which the attendees will learn how to apply makeup and other appliques which indicate various patient conditions such as shock, burns, traumatic injuries (gunshots, cuts, abrasions), etc. Add realism to your training scenarios by learning these basic moulage techniques.
This course is intended for those who teach EMS skills, emergency management personnel who conduct exercises, and hospital personnel who provide training. Class size is limited to 16 students per day. Students who take this course may be called upon to assist with the application moulage to victim/actors for functional exercises or training scenarios.

MGT 312: Senior Officials Workshop for All-Hazards Preparedness
This workshop will be held on May 13th 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. and will be held at the Sheraton Norfolk Waterside Hotel, 777 Waterside Dr. Norfolk, VA 23510.
For my hospital emergency managers, this class is highly recommended for all C-Suite members in hospitals, please pass this information along. For my city emergency managers, please pass this up to the highest level. There is a pre-test required.
This workshop provides an interactive forum to better understand the roles and responsibilities of community leaders as related to all-hazard disaster preparedness, to share proven strategies and best practices, and to enhance coordination among whole of community partners.
Participants will be introduced to a basic understanding of planning operational coordination and public information and warning through lecture and group discussions. The participant will have the opportunity to work through a customized tabletop exercise focused on the strategic objectives faced by senior leaders. The final activity of the class is the development of an action plan to improve the preparedness posture of the community/organization.

Community-Based Emergency Response Seminar (CBERS)
VDH in collaboration with VDEM, DGS, and DEQ developed this year's Community-Based Emergency Response Seminar (CBERS). This year’s topic is Chemical Mass Casualty Incident Tabletop Exercise. The locations are down below, but it will be from 8 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. with lunch included.
The purpose of the 2025 Community-Based Emergency Response Seminar (CBERS) is to bring together Public Health, Emergency Management, Laboratories, Environmental programs, Healthcare Coalitions, State Emergency Response Commission, Local Emergency Planning Committees (LEPCs), Public Safety and other partners Responsible for coordinating response and recovery efforts to a Chemical Mass Casualty Incident. This training is free and open to all applicable partners.
Objectives:
Discuss risks, hazards, and threats and the capabilities to assess the health needs of the population in response to a Chemical Mass Casualty Incident.
Discuss strategies to distribute, dispense, or administer Medical Countermeasures to the public in response to a Chemical Mass Casualty Incident.
Examine and discuss agency roles in response to a Chemical Mass Casualty Event.
Assess multi-agency coordination in response to a Chemical Mass Casualty Event in accordance with existing plans, policies, and procedures.
Discuss initial actions for the recovery phase of the locality in response to a Chemical Mass Casualty event.

PER 211: Medical Management of Chem, Bio, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosive Events
This class is scheduled on July 29th & 30th, 2025, in PEMS at 6876 Main Street Gloucester Virginia 23061. It will be from 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.
What if a catastrophic event occurs? Will you be ready? Will you need a special level of protection? Is decontamination necessary? Do you have the right medications? This course answers these questions and more as you learn how to distinguish between different agents of concern that could be used in an incident. A combination of facilitated discussions, small-group exercises, human patient simulator hands-on scenarios, and traditional classroom discussions are used to present the topics. The multi-discipline make-up of the participants helps to strengthen information sharing, communications, and medical surge capabilities.
