Subject: NWS Wakefield Thursday Weekly Briefing

Good morning,

This is the weekly Thursday briefing for March 13, 2025, which will cover the weather through the end of this week into next week.  Please note these weekly briefings will be suspended during times when other weather specific briefings are being provided focusing on high impact weather events (e.g. severe weather and coastal storms). 

Key Points: 

  • Strong to severe showers/storms are possible Sunday afternoon into Sunday evening. Damaging winds and a brief tornado are possible along with locally heavy rain.
  • Breezy conditions are expected ahead of the line of showers/storms Sunday morning and afternoon, especially towards the coastline and Eastern Shore. Wind gusts to 40 mph are possible.
  • Marine Weather - Marine Dense Fog Advisory is in effect until 1 PM for the lower bay and James River. Small Craft Advisories are in effect for the northern coastal waters through early morning Friday. Gale conditions are possible for all waters Sunday.
  • Marine Weather - Rounds of marine fog are possible today through Saturday, particularly across the southern coastal waters.
  • Online Advanced SKYWARN class today at 1 PM and in-person Basic SKYWARN class today in Farmville at 6 PM.
