Good afternoon,

Attached is an updated briefing from National Weather Service Wakefield, VA as of  Friday, February 14, 2025, highlighting the potential impacts from rain this weekend, wind Sunday and a winter storm expected the middle of next week.

Key Points:

  • A brief light glaze of freezing rain is possible well north and west of Richmond Saturday morning.
  • A couple waves of rainfall (moderate to heavy at times) is expected Saturday afternoon / evening and again Sunday morning. Some localized flooding is possible.
  • Winds increase Sunday with gusts to 30 to 45 mph possible. Due to wet soils this cold result in some downed trees and power outages.

  • Marine Weather - Gale Watches are in effect for Sunday into Monday morning. Expect SW winds gusting to 35-40kt on Sunday then shifting to the W by Sunday evening with gusts to 40 kt. Seas building to 6 to 9 feet over the coastal waters and 3 to 5 feet in the bay.

NWS Wakefield will plan on conducting the regularly scheduled Monday 11 am briefing on Monday, February 17th.
