Good afternoon,

Attached is a one page briefing from National Weather Service Wakefield, VA as of 3:30 PM on 12/22/24, highlighting the potential for light freezing rain across portions of the area Tuesday morning.

Key Points:

  • A period of light freezing rain is possible between 2-10 AM Tuesday morning.
  • If the event does materialize, roads (especially secondary roads/parking lots) could quickly become slick and hazardous as temperatures will initially be below 32°F.
  • Any precipitation turns to all rain after 10 AM.
  • There is uncertainty regarding whether precipitation arrives before temperatures rise above freezing.
  • The best chance of light icing is across interior portions of southern VA and NE NC.
