TEMS is glad to get back up to Gloucester for another day of training. With school out, we decided to focus on pediatrics!

A HUGE shout out to Laerdal who will be providing a RQI Lunch and Learn featuring their latest equipment for measuring CPR performance in both kids and adults.

First Line: First Receiver Operational Training Course

This class will be held on May 20 2026 from 8:30 a.m.- 5 p.m. at CHKD Health Center, 500 Discovery Dr Suite 302 Chesapeake, VA 23320.

Our Dry Decon training equips responders, industrial teams, and emergency personnel with the skills to perform safe and effective dry decontamination. Using FiberTect®, participants learn how to quickly perform bulk removal of contaminants from personnel, equipment, and surfaces, perfect for cold or austere environments where water-based decontamination isn’t practical. Safe for skin, FiberTect® allows responders to act fast without risking additional harm.

Practical, hands-on experience using FiberTect® for rapid dry decontamination
Techniques for effective bulk contaminant removal and safe disposal.
Preparation for real-world scenarios, including industrial incidents, cold-weather operations, and large-scale emergency responses.
Ensure your team can respond safely and efficiently to contamination events, even in environments where traditional decontamination isn’t an option.

The 2026 Virginia Healthcare Emergency Preparedness Summit will be hosted at The Westin-Richmond on Wednesday, April 22, 2026.

Please share across EMS distribution channels that we are offering 6-hours of of EMS Continuing Education (CE) Credits – 3.5 hours of Operations and 2.5 hours of Category-2. To obtain EMS CE’s we ask attendees to please download the “Virginia OEMS” mobile app (https://www.vdh.virginia.gov/content/uploads/sites/23/2023/08/Virginia-OEMS-App-Quick-Guide-August-2023.pdf search “Virginia OEMS” in your device’s app store) so they may be awarded the credit hours for attendance. At the end of each session, their QR-code will be scanned by the EMS Education Coordinator at the back of the room. Scott DeBoer RN, MSN, CPEN, EMT-P, is an international pediatric seminar leader and nurse consultant with over 30 years of nursing experience who obtained his master’s degree in emergency/critical care nursing from Purdue University.

For over 25 years, Scott has worked in neonatal/pediatric/adult flight nursing, as well as holding staff nurse positions in intensive care and emergency/trauma nursing. He has also taught as a clinical nursing instructor at Purdue University and is a member of ENA and ASTNA. In addition, Scott serves as a legal nurse consultant with various national law firms as an expert witness for nursing and EMS malpractice issues.

Scott has written well over 100 pediatric and critical care articles for Neonatal Network, Critical Care Nurse, Journal of Emergency Nursing, AirMed, Emergency Medical Services, Air-Medical Journal, and EMS World Magazine. In recognition of his significant contributions in medical transport journalism, he was honored by the Air & Surface Transport Nurses Association to be a recipient of their Jordan Award.
