Dear Region 7 EMS Agencies and Organizations,

The Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services has announced the Fall 2026 cycle of the Rescue Squad Assistance Fund, commonly known as the RSAF Grant Program.

RSAF is a competitive matching-grant program available to eligible nonprofit licensed EMS agencies and other Virginia EMS organizations. Funding may be used to support equipment purchases, training supplies, special projects, and other priorities that improve emergency medical services.

The Fall 2026 application cycle opens August 1, 2026. Applications must be submitted no later than 5:00 p.m. on September 15, 2026.

The grant performance period will run from January 1 through December 31, 2027.

Important Application Information

Applications must be submitted through the EMS Grant Information Funding Tool, known as E-GIFT.

Each application must include:

• Itemized price quotations for all requested items
• Verification of the organization’s Federal Identification Number
• All required electronic signatures
• Any additional supporting information relevant to the request

RSAF funding may be approved for:

• Establishing a new EMS agency, program, or service where needed
• Expanding or improving an existing EMS agency, program, or service
• Replacing existing equipment or purchasing new equipment
• Establishing, expanding, or improving EMS training programs

RSAF funds may not be used for:

• Leased equipment or vehicles
• Equipment or vehicles secured by a lien
• Guarantees or warranties
• Used equipment or vehicles without prior approval
• Fire-suppression apparatus or law-enforcement equipment

Applicants are encouraged to review the Consolidated Grants Product Price List available on the RSAF webpage. Grant awards will not exceed the applicable category amount shown on the price list or available statewide contract pricing.

Grant-Writing Assistance

Please let us know whether your agency would be interested in participating in an RSAF grant-writing session conducted by the Virginia Office of EMS.

The Region 7 EMS Council is also available to provide individual assistance upon request.
