Subject: RE: Maryview Medical Center Construction UPDATE

Hello,

The good news is that there is a light at the end of the tunnel and we are almost done with the construction at Maryview Medical Center.  The bad news?  We still have construction going on in the area of the EMS bays.  While we have been able to open additional EMS bays and remove the temporary dock we still have some bays unavailable.  UNTIL THE CONSTRUCTION IS COMPLETE THE ONLY VEHICLES THAT SHOULD BE USING THE EMS BAYS AND EMS ENTRANCE ARE 911 CITY FIRE/EMS AGENCIES.  EMS no longer needs to enter through the Heart Center.

ALL COMMERCIAL MEDICAL TRANSPORT COMPANIES MUST STILL ENTER THROUGH THE HEART CENTER.

We have had numerous issues with transport companies parking in the EMS bays, with several crews being extremely rude to our security officers, ED staff and myself.  The construction process is beyond our control, we are doing the best that we can, and I will not tolerate rude and unprofessional comments.

I am asking all commercial agencies to PLEASE share this update with ALL your staff.

Thank you,

Pat

Subject: Maryview Medical Center Construction REMINDER

Hello,

This is a reminder that the construction at MMC has begun.  This will impact EMS and Commercial ambulance ED access for approximately six weeks.  Please share this information with your staff.

City or County Fire/EMS:

  • A temporary dock has been built at the end of the existing EMS bay. There is parking for two ambulances.  Please remind your crews that these two bays should be used for high acuity, hemodynamically unstable patients.
  • The temporary dock access is for 911 ambulances ONLY.
  • Once the patient has been brought into the ED we ask that the ambulance is relocated, as soon as possible, to the parking lot across from the main ED entrance.  While this lot has gated access, the gates are up and a sign is in place marking it as Emergency Vehicle parking only.
  • All low acuity EMS patients should be brought in via the Heart Center on West Road.
  • The afterhours door code is 2024
  • Wheelchairs are available inside the Heart Center entrance to assist with any ambulatory patients.
  • Signs have been placed inside the Heart Center to direct crews to the ED.
  • Fire apparatus accompanying ambulances should park in the loop on the Heart Center side of the facility, and enter the building through this entrance to retrieve crew members.
  • Please remind your crews to NOT LEAVE VEHICLES RUNNING WHILE PARKED ALONG WEST ROAD OR WHEN PARKED IN THE LOOP AT THE HEART CENTER ENTRANCE.  We have a lot of foot traffic along West Rd and would hate to see an ambulance stolen.
  • Unless both ambulance bays are full, and you arrive with a critical patient, please do not be bring anyone through the main ED entrance and waiting room.

Commercial Transport Ambulances:

  • ALL commercial medical transport traffic MUST USE the Heart Center entrance on West Rd.
  • The afterhours door code at the Heart Center entrance is 2024.
  • Due to lack of space please DO NOT park in the two 911 ambulance bays at the ED.
  • Wheelchairs are available inside the door if needed for ease of low acuity patient transport.
  • Ambulances can be parked throughout the loop at this entrance.  Current on-call doctor spaces have been blocked for ambulance parking.
  • Please remind your crews to NOT LEAVE VEHICLES RUNNING WHILE PARKED ALONG WEST ROAD OR WHEN PARKED IN THE LOOP AT THE HEART CENTER ENTRANCE.  We have a lot of foot traffic on West Rd and would hate to see an ambulance stolen.

I appreciate your understanding and patience during the construction.  Do not hesitate to reach out to me with any and all questions.

Thanks,

Pat
