TEMS - Filter Straw Shortage
Well, this shortage has hit us now. Some of the pharmacies have sent notice that they have run out of their on-hand supplies of the straws.
They will be subbing a Filter “Needle”. This may not cause an issue for the EMS providers as we have worked to have all ampules removed from the EMS Med Boxes but there may be a few like epinephrine 1mg/1mL is supplied during a back-ordered or shortage.
Attached is an SBAR for provider education. The biggest takeaway is the need NOT to administer/push medications back through the same filter needle.
