Good morning,

Attached is an updated briefing from National Weather Service Wakefield, VA as of  8:15 AM EDT Saturday March 15, 2025, highlighting the potential for severe storms on Sunday. A two page briefing has also been included.

What Has Changed?

  • The slight risk (level 2 of 5) has shifted westward, with most of the Eastern Shore and parts of SE VA/NE NC now in a marginal risk (level 1).

Key Points: 

  • A Slight Risk (level 2 of 5) of severe thunderstorms has been issued for all of the area for Sunday afternoon into Sunday evening.
  • Damaging winds, some hail, and a brief tornado are possible along with locally heavy rain.
  • Breezy conditions are expected to develop ahead of the line of showers/storms Sunday morning and afternoon, especially towards the coastline and Eastern Shore. Wind gusts to 40 mph are possible.
  • Marine Weather - Small Craft Advisories will be in effect for increasing marine winds tonight through Monday morning. A Gale Watch is now in effect for the northern coastal waters where the best chance for frequent gusts to 35 kts is. Occasional gusts up to 35 kt are possible on Sunday afternoon and evening elsewhere. Locally higher gusts are possible within storms Sunday night. Waves up to 10 ft in the northern coastal waters and up to 5 ft in the Bay.
