Good afternoon,

Attached is an updated briefing from National Weather Service Wakefield, VA as of  2:30 PM EDT Friday March 13, 2025, highlighting the potential for severe storms on Sunday. A two page brief has also been included.

Key Points: 

  • A Slight Risk (level 2 of 5) of severe thunderstorms has been issued for all of the area for Sunday afternoon into Sunday evening.
  • Damaging winds and a brief tornado are possible along with locally heavy rain.
  • Breezy conditions are expected to develop ahead of the line of showers/storms Sunday morning and afternoon, especially towards the coastline and Eastern Shore. Wind gusts to 40 mph are possible.
  • Marine Weather - Small Craft Advisories will be in effect for increasing marine winds Saturday night through Monday morning. Gusts up to 35 kt are possible on Sunday afternoon and evening, with locally higher gusts within storms Sunday night. Waves up to 10 ft in the northern coastal waters and up to 5 ft in the Bay.
