Good morning,

Attached is an updated briefing from National Weather Service Wakefield, VA as of 8 AM EST Feb 18, 2025, highlighting the potential impacts from a winter storm expected Wednesday through Thursday Morning.

Key Points: 

  • NOTE: We will be holding a live weather brief at 11am this morning. You may join via this link: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/5374367102003001183
  • A significant winter storm is expected across much of the area Wed-Thu with heavy snowfall.
  • The entire area will be impacted by snow, with the heaviest snowfall expected across south central VA, the Tidewater, Hampton Roads, the Peninsula, Virginia Eastern Shore and NE North Carolina where 5 to 10 inches of snow is expected. Other areas north and west are expected to see 3 to 7 inches of snow.
  • Although the forecast is coming into better focus, there will still be slight changes to the exact snowfall forecast for this event and where the exact heaviest snow will occur.
  • Widespread minor to locally moderate river flooding remains ongoing.
  • Marine Weather - Small craft advisory conditions are expected in the bay tonight into Wed morning with northerly gusts to 20 kt. Small craft advisory conditions expected across the entire waters Wednesday night into Thu with north winds gusting to 20 to 25 kt. NW gales are possible Thu afternoon/Thu night.
