This email was too big, so I had to break it up into two parts. 


CHEC Class Information 

All 3 days of training will be held at: Sentara-Williamsburg (Graves Conference Room, 1st Floor) 100 Sentara Circle Williamsburg, VA 23188. Participants will receive a Student Manual at time of check-in for each class.


  • Basic CHEC Course, April 22nd-23rd, 2025:    
  • Enrollment Key:  EVHC425   (Same key for BOTH courses)
    • Course will run from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm each day.  (Check-in begins at 8:00 am)

  • This course provides students with an introduction to emergency management principles, key components and regulations of emergency preparedness and response programs. Upon completion of the Certified Healthcare Emergency Coordinator (CHEC) Basic course, healthcare emergency coordinators (HECs) will be able to demonstrate the ability to make critical decisions needed to reduce the potential threats to life and property using an “all hazards” approach to disaster management.

 

  • The course will provide healthcare emergency coordinators with an in-depth guide detailing plan basics, plan development, annexes and appendices to plans, implementation of plans, evaluating plans for quality, and exercising a plan.

MGT-341 TEEX CLASS: Disaster Preparedness for Healthcare Orgs within the Community Infrastructure
Please make sure that you are registering for the correct class. The City of Virginia Beach is hosting the exact same class outside of TEMS Expo on May 12-13. 

This class is being held during TEMS Expo on May 13-14 from 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. in Norfolk, Virginia at Sheraton Norfolk Waterside Hotel, 777 Waterside Dr., Norfolk, VA 23510. 

Disaster Preparedness for Healthcare Organizations within the Community Infrastructure brings together individuals from the healthcare community who are responsible for ensuring the resiliency of healthcare services during high consequence or catastrophic events with a jurisdiction. Through a focus of preparedness processes and activities, this course provides an opportunity for participants to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to help them ensure the sustainability of their resources, facilities, and organizations during all types of disasters.


Community-Based Emergency Response Seminar (CBERS)

VDH in collaboration with VDEM, DGS, and DEQ developed this year's Community-Based Emergency Response Seminar (CBERS). This year’s topic is Chemical Mass Casualty Incident Tabletop Exercise.

The purpose of the 2025 Community-Based Emergency Response Seminar (CBERS) is to bring together Public Health, Emergency Management, Laboratories, Environmental programs, Healthcare Coalitions, State Emergency Response Commission, Local Emergency Planning Committees (LEPCs), Public Safety and other partners Responsible for coordinating response and recovery efforts to a Chemical Mass Casualty Incident. This training is free and open to all applicable partners.

Objectives:
  • Discuss risks, hazards, and threats and the capabilities to assess the health needs of the population in response to a Chemical Mass Casualty Incident.
  • Discuss strategies to distribute, dispense, or administer Medical Countermeasures to the public in response to a Chemical Mass Casualty Incident.
  • Examine and discuss agency roles in response to a Chemical Mass Casualty Event.
  • Assess multi-agency coordination in response to a Chemical Mass Casualty Event in accordance with existing plans, policies, and procedures.
  • Discuss initial actions for the recovery phase of the locality in response to a Chemical Mass Casualty event.
