Good morning,

Attached is an updated briefing from National Weather Service Wakefield, VA as of 8am on 12/28/2024, highlighting the potential for severe storms Sunday afternoon into the first part of Sunday night.

Key Points: 

  • Gusty winds in excess of 60 mph and perhaps an isolated tornado are possible with any stronger storm.
  • Strong to severe storms are possible Sunday Afternoon into the first part of Sunday night. 
  • The greatest threat for severe weather is across the southwest Piedmont with some severe threat extending across central and southeast Virginia as well as northeast North Carolina.
  • Confidence still remains low at this time due to low instability and timing differences in the models.
