Subject: Sentara Leigh Hospital ambulance bay construction interference 3/30/2024
We have a crane coming on-site again at Sentara Leigh Hospital and the round-about area of our ambulance bay will be impacted slightly again. We had this happen a couple of times last year and I believe this should be the final time a crane is needed. The crane is coming to replace an air handler unit above our 3rd CT scanner room. The construction company, Sussex Development, has a team ready to use the crane on this Saturday, March 30, 2024. Work is scheduled to begin at 0700 and will likely take most of the day until approximately 3:00 pm.
Can you please share the information with all of our EMS partners for their awareness? This will impact their ability to turn around and park vehicles. Our facilities department will block off 3 of the handicap parking spots nearest the ambulance bay to assist with ambulance parking. We’re also communicating with transport companies to request that they use the back of the hospital for pick-up of inpatients needing transport.
I’ve attached our SBAR that gives a few more details about the project. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you,
